primarily wool bunting, 38" x 58", with 13 hand-sewn double appliqué cotton stars configured in 5/3/5 horizontal rows, on blue canton. The fly is constructed of 13 machine-sewn, wool bunting stripes. Hoist includes indiscernible commercial maker's mark and two brass grommets. The flag is accompanied by a letter of authenticity written by Howard Madaus.

A nearly identical flag was captured by the 4th Virginia Cavalry, Black Horse Cavalry, at Chancellorsville, Virginia. That flag now resides at the State Historical Society of Ohio. 

Condition: Scattered holes in the canton, fly, and hoist; some toning to flag; scattered soiling.
