Grant., Terms and Conditions of the Surrender.‰Û The front page, 14.5 x 20.5, features dramatic accounts of local reactions from Wilmington, Albany, Philadelphia, Worcester, Pittsburgh, Trenton, and Providence. It also lists ‰ÛÏThe Correspondence Between Grant and Lee,‰Û with Grant‰Ûªs note from April 9th reading, in part: ‰ÛÏThe terms upon which peace can be had are well understood. By the South laying down their arms, they will hasten that most desirable event, save thousands of human lives, and hundreds of millions of property not yet destroyed.
