This is an exceptional rare and desirable Civil War private purchase Navy officer's pistol with spur-trigger, 4 inch .32 caliber octagonal barrel; serial number 150. The Navy Model was put out of production due to a patent infringement on Smith & Wesson's design. The Hopkins Patent, which this is, only had a production of 300 and was a very advance gun because it had a swing-out cylinder for ease of loading. It was the first swing-out cylinder pistol made. It was more powerful than the S&W and much easier to load and fire. If production hadn't been stopped, Bacon could have sold 100,000 of these, but only 300 were made with only a fraction still available. The pistol is marked with the serial number of 150 (early number) and manufacture Bacon. Manufactured circa 1860’s. NO FFL.
