Civil War Martially Inspected Remington New Model Army Percussion Revolver

The New Model Army revolver was one of the major handguns of the Civil War with this example having a script letter cartouche on the left grip panel. The barrel is numbered to the gun and the top flat is marked "PATENTED SEPT. 14. 1858/E.REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. NEW YORK. U.S.A/NEW-MODEL." The major components have single letter inspection marks. Pinched blade front sight, grooved top strap and brass trigger guard. Fitted with smooth grips.

Very good. The revolver retains 20% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. Some minor pitting and spotting are present with a series of tool-like marks on the cylinder. The grips are good with the left panel repair, numerous pressure dents on the bottoms, high edge wear and some minor handling marks overall. The cartouche is legible. Mechanically fine.
