Civil War Martially Inspected Remington New Model Army Percussion Revolver with Holster

The New Model Army revolver was one of the major handguns of the Civil War with this example having a script letter cartouche on the left grip panel. The barrel is numbered to the gun and the top flat is marked "PATENTED SEPT. 14. 1858/E.REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. NEW YORK. U.S.A/NEW-MODEL." The major components have single letter inspection marks including the bottoms of the grip panels. Pinched blade front sight, grooved top strap and brass trigger guard. Fitted with smooth grips. With a period leather holster.

Fine. The revolver retains 30% original blue finish with a smooth brown patina on the balance. A few patches of minor pitting are present. The grips are very fine with a few minor handling marks and worn bottom edges. The cartouche is crisp. Mechanically fine. The holster is fair.
