Civil War Manhattan Series IV Navy-Caliber Revolver, #53323, .36 Cal., 6.5" octagonal barrel marked with maker's name, address and "Patented March 8, 1864" in two lines on top flat, has tapered loading lever below; 5-shot round cylinder is roll-engraved with five panels of martial scenes and marked "Patented Dec. 27, 1859" at rear; open-top frame has separate gripstraps, with 1-pc. varnished walnut grips. Mfg'd early 1860s. Condition is very good retaining traces of blue and silver in protected areas and silvered case colors. Grips with wear at sides of butt, scattered dings, much original varnish. Recoil shield spring-plate is missing. Visible numbers (and wedge) match; quite desirable with this longest barrel length. Action is strong and crisp, bore has scattered light erosion, very good rifling. Est.: $500-$750. (Antique)
