This is an original Light Cavalry Saber model 1860. Known as the "old wrist breaker" for its heft.
Made by the D.J. Millard Co. of Clayville, New York marked on the ricossa in an aching circle. The other side of the ricasso is marked "US/C.E.W./ 1862". Charles E. Wilson was the ordinance inspector in 1862. Charles Wilson's inspection marks are on the ricasso, twice on the pommel and again on the scabbard drag. Complete with leather washer, original leather and wire wrap grip. The blade is near perfect at 41 in. The scabbard is complete with minor handling marks. A museum quality saber and scabbard. Please see photos for details.
