<B>Lot of Civil War Letters Concerning Illinois Regiments.</B></I> This lot includes two letters which relate to the 2nd and 4th Illinois Cavalry. The first letter, one page, 8” x 12.5”, Sangamon County, Illinois, September 21, 1864, is a notarized statement from Joseph Allison, formerly a saddler in the 2nd Illinois Cavalry and discharged on account of unspecified disabilities, asserting that “<I>he has now recovered from said disability & does not know any cause or reason for not reenlisting in said service & asks to reenlist.</B></I>” The letter has the usual fold creases, else in very good condition. The second letter, two pages, 7.75” x 10”, Peoria, September 27, 1862, is from Colonel David P. Jenkins of the 4th Illinois Cavalry to James Grant Wilson exhorting him to act fast and secure a major's commission in order to join one of the companies of the 4th Cavalry.
