1862 (Identified) Civil War Period, Full Plate Tintype Colorized Photograph, Union Soldier Identified as Mr. Charles Wentworth of the 12th New Hampshire Volunteers, Very Fine.
This Full / Whole Plate Tintype Photograph measures about 6” x 8.5” being that of Mr. Charles Wentworth of the 12th New Hampshire Volunteers. Charles Wentworth is from Dover, New Hampshire and this Tintype photograph was taken in 1862 according to the information handwritten on the lower portion of its surrounding mat. The photograph has been period Hand-Colored with some in painting and shows Wentworth in his Union military uniform and wearing his Kepi seated with is left arm resting on an American Flag draped over the chair or small bench he is sitting on. The Civil War American Flag has been colorized with red and white, plus flesh color to the face and hands. The tintype has been adhered to a backing mat for display and has two tiny holes made near the top outer edges for prior display. The image can be easily removed for its current mat. There is some scattered deeper grey spotting at the top portion of the photograph, yet otherwise in nice condition.
