Civil War Era Starr Percussion Single Shot Carbine, #20239, .54 cal., 21'' barrel, blue finish, single brass band and buttplate, walnut stock and forend. Considered scarce with approx. 20,500 mfg'd in Yonkers, NY between 1862-1865. A number of Starrs were issued to Union Cavalry regiments including the 1st Arkansas, 5th Kansas, 11th Missouri, and 24th New York. Condition is very good to fine with light traces of blue remaining in protected area of barrel. Frame, sideplate and hammer have toned a silvery gray. Stock is excellent with small repair near upper tang of buttplate. Action remains crisp, bore is fine with light coat of internal grease. Est.: $1,000-$1,500. (Antique)
