Civil War Era Colt Model 1860 Army Percussion Revolver, #186072, .44 cal., 8'' ''streamlined'' round barrel has standard sights, jointed ''creeping'' loading lever; rebated round 6-shot cylinder marked ''Colt's Patent No. 072''; open-top frame is marked ''Colts/Patent'' at lower left, has brass trigger guard, steel backstrap and one-piece oil-finished walnut grips. Mfg'd ca. 1870. Condition is good retaining no original finish with scattered dark discoloration and erosion; barrel address is illegible; cylinder retains none of its rolled scene but number is clearly visible; brass shows an aged patina. Grips are sound with (perhaps) initials scribed to right side, small chips at toes and general wear. Serial numbers match on barrel, frame and cylinder; wedge is unnumbered, trigger guard is #193056, backstrap number illegible. Action is crisp; bore is clean showing moderate etching and sharp rifling. Est.: $500-$750. (Antique)
