Civil War Contract Starr 1858 Double Action Army Revolver
Approximately 23,000 of these revolvers were manufactured in the late 1850s and early 1860s, most of them for the government. Standard "STARR. ARMS. Co. NEW. YORK." address on left side of frame, "STARR'S PATENT JAN. 15, 1856" on the right. Serial numbers match on the front of the barrel lug, on the cylinder, in the hammer well and front of the hammer, with the partial serial number (94) on the trigger. There are small "B" inspection marks on most of the components. The revolver is fitted with a smooth one piece walnut grip with an oval cartouche on each side.
