Civil War Contract Starr 1858 Double Action Army Revolver
Approximately 23,000 of these revolvers were manufactured in the late 1850s and early 1860s, most of them for the government. Standard "STARR. ARMS. Co. NEW. YORK." address on left side of frame, "STARR'S PATENT JAN. 15, 1856" on the right. Serial numbers match on the front of the barrel lug, on the cylinder, in the hammer well and front of the hammer. There are small inspection marks on most of the components. The revolver is fitted with a smooth one piece walnut grip with an oval cartouche on each side.

Condition: Good. The revolver retains 30% original blue finish (mostly on the frame) with the balance a smooth brown patina with some minor spotting. Top strap has been repaired near the hammer well and there is a series of dings on the barrel near the front sight. The cylinder is also repaired on one chamber, most likely due to bursting. The grip is fine with some minor dings and scratches, with a shallow dent on the right side. The cartouches are both fine.
