Civil War Contract Starr 1858 Double Action Army Revolver
Approximately 23,000 of these revolvers were manufactured in the late 1850s and early 1860s, most of them for the government. Standard markings of "STARR. ARMS. CO. NEW. YORK." address on left side of frame, "STARR'S PATENT JAN. 15, 1856" on the right. A small inspector proofs are stamped on some components. The revolver is fitted with a smooth one piece walnut grip with a crisp cartouche on each side.

Fine. The barrel retains 30% of the original blue finish which is mostly contained in the protected areas the balance is now a mottled gray brown patina with spotting and some over all handling marks. The frame and cylinder also show flashes of original blue finish all in protected areas the balance is now a mottled gray/brown patina with some overall handling marks and spotting. The hammer still exhibits brilliant flashes of original case colors. The grip is very fine with minor pressure marks and a large scratch on the left side, both cartouches are crisp. Mechanically fine.
