Civil War Colt Model 1849 Percussion Pocket Revolver, #225128, .31 cal., 5'' octagonal barrel, standard sights marked with maker's name and ''New-York US America'' address in one line on top flat, has jointed loading lever beneath; round 6-shot cylinder engraved with ''stagecoach hold-up'' scene; open-top frame is marked ''Colts Patent'' at lower left, has brass gripstraps and one-piece varnished walnut grips. Mfg'd ca. 1863. Condition is very good retaining perhaps 15% barrel blue mixed with scattered age discoloration and light rust patches to right side; cylinder has no blue but rolled scene is clearly visible; frame and lever are gunmetal gray with scattered oxidation; brass shows an aged patina. Grips are sound with a quarter-inch chip at right toe, wear at butt and 85% original finish. All visible serial numbers match including lever (cylinder is #24128, but obviously a factory numbering error). Action is crisp; bore is clean showing overall light frosting and defined rifling. Est.: $450-$650. (Antique)
