A reprint of Robert E. Lee's General Order Number Nine; his official surrender to Union forces April, 1865. This booklet was produced by the Lakeside Press in 1989. Handsomely done with an exacting copy of Genl. Lee's letter to his troops. (The letter is watermarked for authenticity.) A copy of a paroled prisoner's pass is included with the signature of Major Fitzhugh Lee signed by George Sharpe for safe passage. There are additional copies of drafts for terms of surrender.
There is a reprint copy of Union Generals in CDVs about 40 photos.
There are two reprint of battle maps in North Carolina, and Bull Run, Virginia.
There is the eight page broadsheet to re-elect President Lincoln dated 1864 with speeches written by Major General Hooker, U.S. Grant, and W.T. Sherman. Sherman's speech calls out the South for their early betrayal of Unity and Liberty. This document is water stained and foxed but should not to be overlooked in any way for its importance.
There is a reprint 20 dollar bill from the National Bank of Reno; named after Major-General Jesse Reno killed at Fox's Gap.
An engraved print of W. T. Sherman with the likeness of his autograph by A.B. Walter of Phila. with his familiar scowl. Genl. Sherman often portrayed himself with a scowl to present an unapproachable man given the situation of killing his fellow Americans. The print is accompanied by a reprint five hundred dollar bill with is engraved likeness.
There is an envelope from the Adjunct General's Office written to W.T. Sherman in care of the "honorable Senator John Sherman from Ohio, Washington City ". (This was W.T. Sherman's bother).
There are two envelopes addressed to Lieut. T.E. Smith of Co. H 79th Regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry. It is important in that the forwarding address reads "to follow the regiment" in Savannah, Georgia and with "Sherman's Army North Carolina".
There is an envelope written by W. T. Sherman to his son "Master W. T. Sherman" postmarked April 26, 1862. General Sherman had just exited the battle of Shiloh and travelling to Mississippi likely wishing his son well for his eighth birthday. The boy would not see his ninth birthday dying October 9, 1863 in Memphis of Typhoid after a family trip to see their father.
