Manufactured by Ball and Williams of Worchester, Massachusetts, and manufactured/assembled by Merwin & Bray in 1964 and sold to the state of Kentucky. Left side of frame has the two line Merwin & Bray marking over the serial number and right side has the two line Ballard 1861 patent marking. Pinched blade front and two leaf folding rear sight, and mounted on a plain forearm and straight grip stock with iron carbine buttplate and sling swivels. Left side of stock has an "MM" cartouche.

Condition: Fine. The barrel retains 50% original blue finish with the balance a mottled brown patina with scattered light pitting. The remaining metal surfaces retain 40% dark original blue with the balance a smooth dark brown patina. The slightly undersized refinished wood is very good with some very scattered minor dings and pressure marks with a gouge on the underside of the forearm. Mechanically fine.
