Civil War 4th Model Burnside Saddle Ring Percussion Carbine
Manufactured from 1863 to 1865. Blade front and folding notch rear sights, the latter numbered 1, 3 and 5, and the barrel marked "CAST STEEL 1862" ahead of the rear sight and "S" behind the sight. The top of the frame has the standard two line Burnside March 1856 patent marking with the two line address stamped on the lock plate. A saddle ring bar with ring is mounted on the left side of the frame. Visible numbers match with a faint cartouche on the left side of the stock wrist. Included is a nipple protector and chain.

Condition: Very good, with a smooth brown patina overall and a mixed smooth brown and gray patina on the lock plate and frame. Stock is fine as lightly sanded and reoiled wood, with mild dings, a few gouges and "WAR" faintly cut into the left side of the stock. Nipple protector is battered. Mechanically fine.
