City for Conquest (Warner Brothers, R-1947). Italian 2-Folio (39" X 55"). James Cagney makes it to the top of the world, and then falls to the bottom in this Anatole Litvak film. Cagney is a truck driver turned boxer who is blinded by acid on his opponent's glove during a big bout. When he tries to get revenge on the mobster who did it, he is wounded and incapacitated. He spends the rest of his time working to get a music education for his brother (Arthur Kennedy), leading to the touching scene pictured here, as Cagney and ex-girlfriend Ann Sheridan listen to the radio as Kennedy's first symphony plays. This Italian 2-folio has edge chips, fold wear with separations and chips, and a few holes in the image area. The poster has been mounted on linen and professionally restored, leaving it with a nice, clean appearance. The great Italian artist Martinati did the beautiful artwork of Cagney and Sheridan. Very Good on Linen.
