Circus Rookies. (MGM, 1928). Lobby Card Set of 8 (11" X 14"). This Arthur & Dane Big Top comedy follows an ex-reporter (George K. Arthur) who is trying to win the heart of the high-flying trapeze artist (Louise Lorraine) by joining the circus. Standing in his way, a man-eating gorilla, and its vengeful trainer (Karl Dane). In Arthur's attempts to join the circus, he is thwarted at every turn by both man and ape. The gorilla escapes on their train ride, and Arthur saves the performers and the girl proving his worth. This unlikely comedy duo was somewhat unique in that they normally paired off as adversaries in their films. The title card has pinholes on the top background and border edge, with some light stains and marks on the top yellow and border. The scene cards also have pinholes similar to the title cards (several), and some have light edge and border marks (minor). The set grades as a Very Fine/Near Mint.
