<B>Circle of JAN HACKAERT</B></I> (Dutch 1629-circa 1685)<BR><I>A Hunting Party In A Wooded Landscape</B></I><BR>Oil on canvas<BR>32-7/8 x 47-3/8 inches (83.5 x 120.3 cm)<BR>Unsigned<BR><BR>The seventeenth-century Dutch landscape painter Jan Hackaert specialized in scenes of drovers, or aristocrats hunting deer or fowl on horseback along paths through dense woodlands. Hackaert often collaborated with Nicolaes Berchem who contributed the animals and figures to his compositions. This painting shares stylistic and compositional similarities with a work attributed to the Circle of Hackaert sold at Christie's on April 4, 2007.
