<B>Circa 1970 Bart Starr Game Worn Jersey.</B></I> This late-career gamer from the man who defined the iconic Green Bay Packers World Championship teams of the mid-1960's might not have the right digits anymore, but nothing can remove the intense gridiron significance. It's hard to believe, but one of the Hall of Fame quarterback's gamers was sacrificed, most likely by the team's equipment staff for an "Old Timers" event, to create a jersey for fellow Canton resident Don Hutson. All four number "5" digits were removed and replaced with number "4," bumping the jersey from Starr's number "15" to Hutson's number "14." The outline of the previous digits are bold and unmistakable however, with the stitching "ghosts" of number "5" far more evident than our catalog photography could possibly illustrate. Jersey expert Lou Lampson stresses that the replacement digits match the number "1" examples that remained on the jersey in fabric, cut and age, and were certainly stripped off another contemporary jersey. Lampson also notes a proper but restitched size "46" tag inside collar to match the "Sand-Knit" tail tag, and removal of rear nameplate, though of course the latter is to be expected given its brief use by Hutson.<BR><BR> So, with these imperfections noted, we can turn our attentions to the many positives about this jersey, most importantly the fact that it saw action on the frame of this super-Starr. Wear is solid, but the jersey remains undamaged and displays marvelously in the Packers' most beloved and distinctive style.
