<B>Circa 1957 Original Photograph for Artwork for Ben Hogan Golf Company Logo.</B></I> Magnificent woodcut by noted artist Anthony Ravelli was originally commissioned for publication in Hogan's groundbreaking book "Fundamentals of Golf." Our consignor, a personal acquaintance of Hogan's due to his service to the Colonial Country Club (Ft. Worth, Texas) where Hogan often played, explained that Hogan was a perfectionist who required that all imagery for his book be artwork rather than photography, as he would be criticized by others and himself for his imperfect golfing form. And, sure enough, you can see that Ravelli's work makes small modifications to the original oversized photograph of Hogan that served as the premise for the art. The photo is actually printed on two separate 8x10" pieces of photographic paper, taped together for the effect of a large single image. Some edge wear is apparent, but the image still presents beautifully. The artwork it spawned should be instantly recognizable to golf afficionados, as it came to be used as the official logo of Ben Hogan Golf. As such, it is one of the most recognizable images in the sport. Note that while the photograph is original, the artwork is not, and is included only for display purposes.
