Circa 1948 Herold "Muddy" Ruel Game Worn Jacket. Bidders who participated in our October 2005 auction will certainly remember the fantastic 1924 World Tour uniform and jacket worn by the great Muddy Ruel, who ranked as one of the premier catchers of the 1920's and scored the World Series-winning run for the Senators in 1924. Here we present the beautiful Cleveland Indians jacket worn by Muddy as he helped coach the club to its first World Championship in almost three decades. The letterman-style jacket boasts a navy wool body and white suede sleeves, with the design punctuated by an amazing chenille Chief Wahoo patch over the heart. "Wilson [size] 40" tagging is found inside the collar, while the tail has Muddy's jersey number "42" and his chainstitched surname sewn in the front tail on either side of the functioning zipper. Condition is spectacular for a garment of this vintage, with light toning of the white sleeves the only issue worth noting. While not in the Hall of Fame, Ruel's contributions to our National Pastime still places him in an elite class, and any artifact from his baseball career should be held in reverence. LOA from Lou Lampson.
