Circa 1935 Len Koenecke Signed Scrapbook Page. The owner of perhaps the most bizarre obituary in Big League history. Though Koenecke's 265-game Big League career was rather undistinguished, the rare appearance of his autograph always causes a stir in the collecting community. After having been dismissed from the Brooklyn Dodgers by manager Casey Stengel for erratic play and behavior in September 1935, Koenecke chartered a plane back home to Buffalo. During the flight, Koenecke's irrational behavior intensified, and he attempted to wrest control of the small aircraft from the pilot. After a lengthy melee, Koenecke was subdued with a blow to the head from the plane's fire extinguisher. He never regained consciousness. Koenecke's black ink signature rates a marvelous 9+/10 on this lined 8x10.5" sheet. His clipped newspaper photo appears just above. A piece destined to become the greatest conversation piece in your collection. LOA from PSA/DNA.
