Circa 1930 Lewis "Hack" Wilson Single Signed Baseball. Although just five-foot six inches tall, Wilson tipped the scales at 195 pounds of muscle, with an eighteen inch neck but just size six shoes. One sports writer suggested he was built along the lines of a beer keg, and not wholly unfamiliar with its contents. Sadly, the Hall of Fame slugger's life was cut short by his alcoholism at age forty-eight soon after the close of the Second World War, and a full thirty-one years before Cooperstown came calling. One could point to these factors to explain the scarcity of his autograph in the hobby today, particularly in the single signed baseball format of the offered lot. Unquestionably the toughest member of the Fifty Home Run Club, Wilson provides a marvelous 9/10 black fountain pen signature on the side panel of this Pacific Coast League ball. Some surface wear flirts with the edges of the autograph but never intersects, as if understanding just how rare and special it is. A rare opportunity to elevate your collection to a level that few others match. LOA from James Spence Authentication.

Shipping: Balls, Pucks, etc., Small (view shipping information)
