Circa 1919 Eddie Cicotte Wire Photograph. One of the key figures in the Black Sox conspiracy to throw the 1919 World Series, Cicotte is best remembered for signaling to gamblers that "the fix was on" by beaning the first Cincinnati Reds batter he faced that October. Here we find him in happier times before Kenesaw Mountain Landis levied his lifetime ban against the Eight Men Out, a terrific full-body image of Cicotte letting one fly. Various editing marks and rather archaic photo manipulation only add to the appeal, and offer proof that this image once appeared in a newspaper of the day. The paper caption on verso is lost to the ages, but the "International Film Service Co. Inc." stamping is found on back, along with various editing notes. A small chip at upper right causes no concern. The Type One photo measures 7.5x10" in size.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
