Circa 1910 Industrial League Game Worn Uniform with Photo Match. While our research into the exact identity of the Toronto, Ohio baseball team represented here has come up short, our consignor informs us that the offered uniform belonged to a young ballplayer named Alex Stewart, who kneels second from the left in the pair of accompanying cabinet photographs. It may not be professional issue, but complete uniforms from this period are quite tough to come by, and particularly so with photographic documentation dating back a full century. The top-quality heavyweight white flannel jersey spells "Toronto" in black felt lettering down the collar's button path, with some form of craftsman's tool logo over the heart. A period "Spalding" tag appears inside the collar, above a label that identifies the owner as "Mr. A.T. Stewart, Toronto, O." Matching pants are identically tagged. Both jersey and pants exhibit a mild degree of age and infield dirt toning, but, remarkably, none of the damage almost assured when dealing with clothing of this vintage. The cabinet photograph images measures 5x7", with the chipped mounts extending the final dimensions to 8.5x10.5". Finally, we have a studio portrait of Stewart acquired as part of the same estate box lot, which enabled us to pick Stewart out of the line-up of eleven ballplayers in the cabinet photo.

Shipping: Miscellaneous Collectibles, Larg (view shipping information)
