Circa 1906 Tully Frederick "Topsy" Hartsel Studio Photograph. Another fine offering from the personal estate of this key figure in Connie Mack's first great Philadelphia Athletics dynasty. As are the 1910 team cabinet photograph and Topsy's funeral guest book, this photo was removed from a Hartsel family scrapbook, and pictures the young ballplayer in formal attire. We suspect this is the work of celebrated baseball photographer Carl Horner, and the fact that the image was reproduced for the 1906 Lincoln Philadelphia A's Postcards set would seem to lend credence to this theory, as Horner's work was often used for trading card issues of the day. The oval image measures approximately 3.5x5" at its largest dimensions, and has been trimmed from its cardboard mount to a half inch border. Otherwise the photo remains in flawless shape, with scrapbook paper remnants remaining affixed to verso.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
