<B>Circa 1890 Quilted Catcher's Vest.</B></I> Tough early baseball relic is the highly collectible "apron style," favored by backstops in the days when names like Buck Ewing and Roger Bresnahan defined the position. Leather straps both at the neck and the waist are still present and accounted for, though the waist buckle has been lost to the ages. Nonetheless, this is certainly among the finest of the tiny supply of baseball's earliest protective gear that exists today, and baseball historians will be well advised to bid seriously.
