<B>Circa 1890 Frank Dwyer (Chicago PL) Cabinet Photograph.</B></I> Acquired by our consignor as part of an ensemble of outrageously scarce Players League cabinets from the Chicago Pirates roster, this fine image of right-handed pitcher Frank Dwyer almost assuredly dates to the single season of that defunct League's operation, though we must note that Dwyer had also served the Chicago White Stockings of the National League during the previous two seasons. In any regard, this wonderful sepia image is a nineteenth century treasure, providing razor sharp contrast and a local Chicago studio's stamping at lower border. Dwyer's name and position are penned in an unknown hand at top, with his name repeated by hand on verso, which offers gorgeous period studio graphics. Small chips at each corner and a freckling of toning are to be noted in terms of condition, but our catalog imagery should properly illustrate that the visual strength of the piece survives with grace.
