This photograph by Chus García- Fraile depicts Westminster Abbey with altered glass windows

This is a photographic work from the oeuvre of the Spanish artist Chus García-Fraile. In 2003, she created a series of altered photographs from the ceiling of Westminster Abbey in London. She altered the reverse glass paintings of the glass windows. In this work, the glass paintings are replaced by the logo of the automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz. Throughout her career Chus García- Fraile has developed a distinct style in painting, which she has now left for working in a multidisciplinary manner, between photography, drawing, sculpture, video and installation.



The lambda print is laminated on Aluminum board and sealed with PVC protection film. The photograph is signed, dated, titled and inscribed verso in black permanent marker on the Aluminum board ‘Chus Garcia-Fraile, Westminster Glasswork B‚ 130 x 109, edicion 2/5, 2003’. The edges are partly bumped. There are some scratches on the surface, which are in parts mended with black felt pen. The dimensions are 129.5 x 89.5 cm.

Chus García- Fraile lives and works in Madrid and she has already become an internationally renowned artist. The artist has developed her unique style in painting and now works in a multidisciplinary way between photography, drawing, sculpture, video and installation. The artist has already taken part in Arte Lisboa (2008) and further various national and international solo and group exhibitions. (tm)
