American trans woman (1926–1989) who was the first person to become widely known in the United States for having sex reassignment surgery. When the New York Daily News ran a front-page story on December 1, 1952, under the headline "Ex-GI Becomes Blonde Beauty," she became an instant celebrity, and used her newfound platform to advocate for the LGBTQ community. Glossy 8 x 10 publicity photo of Jorgensen wearing a flashy diamond-and-pearl necklace, signed and inscribed in thin felt tip, "To Ben Morgan—Good luck, Be happy, Christine.” In fine condition.
