An Austrian Trilogy The three paintings below have all been unknown until now. Two of them are by the hand of the renowned Austrian veduta painter Johann Christian Brand, the third by Franz Scheyerer, and together they hold great significance both, in art historical terms as well as for the history of Lower Austria. The landscapes shown in them portray the heartland of a forgotten 'empire' - that of the Lower Austrian entrepreneur and economic pioneer Joseph Edler von Fürnberg (1742 - 1799). With topographical precision and untarnished beauty they evoke a scenery that has largely disappeared today.
