Width 2 5/8 in.

This frontal male figure stands with knees bent, grasping rounded gourd rattles in each hand. He wears a necklace with one round bead drop. On his head is a complex headdress of two open squares with a top serrated edge possibly depicting feathers. A band starting and ending with a circular plug stretches from jaw to temple and across the forehead, framing the face. Double whorls, possibly ear ornaments, almost fill the inner space of the N form on either side of the head. His coffee-bean eyes, closed lips, and prominent nose give the figure a trance-like appearance. The bent knees and elbows suggest a ritual dance.

Provenance
Charles Craig, Santa Barbara
