This is a large excellent Chippewa Native American Indian Spike Tomahawk from circa mid-19th century. The authentic original piece shows a wide blade with tapering spike back and is a large heavy example. The wood haft has a high polish and is artfully decorated with a brass tack design. The wood haft also has a rounded skull cracker style end along the bottom as shown. The forged iron blade shows one rivet spot and three on the spike. The piece is well-kept in original museum quality condition and is truly a wonderful piece. Provenance: From the personal collection of renowned collector and foremost expert on war clubs and tomahawks, Mark Francis. The Francis collection piece and has been authenticated. Measures 24.5"L x 9 3/8"W with a 2.5" blade end.
