This is a fine late 19th Century Western Great Lakes region Chippewa Native American Indian pipe tomahawk. The tomahawk features an English-style forged head and a wood haft adorned with extensive deep hot file branding and brass trade tacks. The forged head shows a medium to short length blade with a notched chevron adorned eye hole having a nice sized bowl. The tomahawk head shows a mellow dark patina and displays well. The haft shows a nice shiny patina with signs of age and use. The piece measures overall 18” in length with a 6.75” long head.
