The lot features a nice Chippewa Cree Native American Indian belt with large beaded drops dating to the 1950’s. The sash or belt shows a wonderful embroidered finish in trade canvas and trade clothes’. At each outside hip the there is a large drop which shows an excellent Grizzly Bear pictorial and geometric beadwork design on early red trade clothe construction. The beadwork shows a unique and rare semi-transparent red background with corn yellow, maroon dark red, chalk white, sky blue, cobalt, medium green, light blue, semi-transparent iridescent and semi-transparent greasy yellow. The ends of the drops show a yellow silk like trade ribbon, a wonderful addition. The set shows some slight bead loss and signs of use, but overall displays very well. The belt measures overall 38”L with a strap that is 3”W. The drops are 25”L by 6”W each.
