The image depicts the severed heads of two men, identified as Peng Chufan on the right and Liu Fuji on the left. They were executed by beheading in Wuhan, China, in October 1911. Peng Chufan, Liu Fuji, and another man, Yang Hongsheng, were executed by Viceroy Jui Cheng. The men were honored by the subsequent Republican government as the Three Pioneering Martyrs of the Revolution.
