This is an early Chinese hand carved Herb Medicine Box used on the Railroad from circa 1840-1860. This is from the Qing Dynasty. Provenance: The piece was from a Big Timber, Montana estate and was handed down the family from the Grandfather to the current owner. The Grandfather stated that the piece was used on the Trains and would hold various Oriental Medicine Herbs on the Railroad. The piece shows excellent carvings and dovetail construction. The carved box also has various Bat carvings, which signify good health. This shows a red and gilt gold paint. The front door slides open. The piece measures 20"L x 12"D x 17.75"H.
