Blue and white porcelain and metal Chinese shard box. Shard boxes lids were made from pieces of old Chinese porcelain from jars, bowls, vases, etc., destroyed in protest during the Chinese Cultural Revolution. The boxes were made according to the shape of the broken pieces so there are all different. The box is unmarked, the base appears to be silver coated copper (see photo).
