Another wonderful antique incense burner for the collector.

An old hand painted Chinese export porcelain figure of a boy spill holder / censer. A lighted incense stick would be placed in the head to ward off evil smells. He is holding a piece of fruit and a heart shaped sceptre. His eyes are pierced. Dates from the first years of the 20th century and is stamped CHINA on the bottom.

Condition: Fair. Full break around neck at edge of yellow collar which was reattached at some point. A small crack about 2mm in length is visible on his upper lip. It appears the stem of the fruit / tip of his middle finger may have broken off a long time ago and is missing - it's hard to tell because there is a lot of aged soot/dirt in the hand areas on this piece. His right foot has several chips to the black paint. The sceptre was damaged but professionally repaired years ago and the repair is not visible to the naked eye. He has a tiny indented dot (discolored black) on his forehead and one on the back of the head that are manufacturing flaws original to the piece. The glaze on his forehead is a bit dull and he definitely has been used as evidenced by black residue on the interior of the head.
