Remarkable photo album circa 1910 in China by a Japanese photographer. The album containing 33 photos begins with a six photo scene of a gruesome execution ending with a final image of the lifeless victim’s bloodied head decapitated on the dirt ground. Other photos include two Chinese men inhaling opium, ancient temples, a yacht race, women in wheelchairs on the streets, an acrobat and Chinese soldiers marching. A picture of the Japanese photographer was taken in front of the Denniston & Sullivan American Store where the text identifies him as S. Kurita. The majority of the images are 3” x 5”, in very well-preserved, near fine condition. The photo album itself measures 6” x 4”. The covers of the book have separated from the book, overall very good.
