This brush holder is made of a single piece of HuangHuaLi wood stem. The Happy Buddha, kids playing kite and old pine are carved along the surface, the back is reminded the origin of the wood. The stem center is empty for holding flowers or brush or other things. The beauty of this display is the combination of the wood nature and the craftsmanship, which shows the natural beauty of the wood.

HuangHauLi is considered the king of the hardwood. People like its color, which ranges from a honey to a purple brown, and its distinctive grain, which creates something like a mountainous landscape pattern. The wood was originally known simply as HuaLi or "flowering pear" and the prefix Huang (yellowish brown) was added in the early twentieth century to describe the old Huali wood that had a yellowish patina due to aging.
