The young Emperor - on the throne since the age of seven and
effectively in control from the age of fifteen - went about the
task of shaping the future of his immense territory by acquiring
a clear understanding of every subject that mattered.

Description: Free-standing Dragon Burner -The five-clawed
dragon - emblem of the Chinese Emperor - was a ubiquitous
motif in Qing art and architecture and could be seen throughout
the Forbidden City. This exquisite
piece
is made in the Palace Workshops. , marked "Kangi yu zhi" (made
by imperial order of Kangxi} and of the period in the interior of
the hanging burner.
<p>
In the palace and in wealthy households, incense, in stick or
powder form, was burnt not only to perfume a room but also to
repel insects.
