tending their sheep under a pine tree, painted in rose, blue
yellow and green, the cup with angular handles, the scalloped
and barbed rim with iron red double border, the center of saucer
with raised rim<p>2 3/4 in. (7 cm.) high; saucer: 5 1/8 in. (13
cm.) diam.

Caudle cups also called porringers, were vessels for warm
spiced gruel called caudle or posset.
<p>
John Alex McCone was an American steel and shipbuilding
industrialist who served in numerous important posts under four
Presidents, from Truman to Johnson. He is best known as one of
the founders of, and later as Director of the Central Intelligence
Agency.
