Entering the fringes of the country
from India as early as the first century A.D, Buddhism
was brought to China chiefly by missionaries from
Gandhara. Buddha ? was widely venerated between

writing on bamboo slips in the Han dynasty (206BC-AD220).

able to bend in the wind without breaking.
