On the breastplate these are divided by a small center space (in which four attachment holes were punched in a square format) so that each group of four birds faces inward. A finely-scaled beaded band edges the entire breastplate. On the disk, six similar birds move in the same direction along a broad outer band. Inside this a groove separates a central raised area which once was completed by a centrally-attached ornament. The upper ends of the breastplate are wrinkled, perhaps the result of folding. The stained surface is in relatively good condition.

Provenance
Bonhams & Butterfields, San Francisco: sale 7437E, 9 June 2003, lot 5109, p.26 (there shown mounted with additional items: silver plume and mother-of-pearl disk)
