Child’s size flintlock rifle with brass patchbox showing daisy finial in Pennsylvania style. The rifle measures approx. 44” overall with a 28-1/4” octagon barrel of approx. .34 cal.; the lock shows a somewhat crude reconversion from percussionback to flint. The stocks have been refinished and show some repairs; the stock is checkered at the wrist and shows silver wire around the tang. The rear sight is an interesting and well-made creation with a fancy elevator. There is no nameon the barrel; it shows an old re-blued finish and the ramrod is a modern replacement. The rifle shows double set triggers and a teardrop escutcheon over one single screw to hold the lock. The rifle also shows double barrel keys and wewould date it to the period of the 1820’s-1830’s.
