</font></strong>The very creative artist, B. Chapman, created this charming and original portrait of a child in 1962. This piece, entitled ?Child?s Portrait?, was painted with the skill of a portrait artist, translating every detail and nuance that is exclusive to the person sitting for their portrait into the work. For instance, Chapman has faithfully captured the twinkle in the beautiful blue eyes, the slight smile that lifts one corner of the child?s lips, the rosy and chubby cheeks, and the lustrous mop of black curls atop the head. The child?s top is a lovely shade of blue that brings out the blue in the eyes, which is lightly feathered out to imitate the effect produced by a camera. It also helps to soften the features of the individual and create an ambiguous use of space. The background is an assortment of colors that were painted in a vertical motion to contrast with the portrait. In some areas, the paint has been applied more liberally than in other areas, creating raised places where the paint is thickly layered. This delightful portrait has been framed with a classic gold wood frame that has an ornate rope pattern on the outer edge and a decorative inner edge, bringing the total dimensions to 11? x 16?. In addition, the artist has signed and dated the painting in the lower right hand corner. Any fan of portraiture and the secrets that lay beneath the surface, is sure to enjoy this child?s portrait, and all for an excellent price.</font>
